General Assistance (Cash Assistance/TANF, Child Care Subsidy)

General Assistance- The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services has eliminated the General Assistance (GA) cash assistance program.  Families with minor children may qualify for cash assistance under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program if they meet various eligibility requirements.  TANF cash assistance is time limited.  There is also assistance with child care costs available to families who qualify.

Eligibility Requirements

NPLS offers representation for those who cannot afford it.

In order to qualify for free legal services, your household income must meet requirements based on the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines.

Available services vary by county.
